December 31, 2011 by iamseanbrage

Tomorrow it won’t be 2011 anymore. Breweries will be releasing a new fleet of beers for the new year, and we couldn’t be more excited. Dry Dock has already unleashed a volley of new brews to lead the charge, giving us the highest of hopes for 2012. But what would December 31 be without looking back to the best days behind it? In New Year’s spirit, we’re looking back at the 5 beers we loved the most this year.

Now, before you go raging in the comments, let us lay out a ground rule or two:

  • This list is not the best beers released in 2011. It’s the best beers we tried for the first time in 2011. Some of these may have been out for longer than a year, but we are looking at what we tried in 2011 that knocked our socks off.
  • This list is only for beers that the majority of people could in theory find for sale to try. So if you were hoping for write-ups of a really rare double-dry-hopped-raspberry souffle version of someone’s IPA that was only served out of a firkin for one day if the groundhog saw his shadow…you get the idea. We are looking at beers you could actually find and enjoy in 2012.
  • We’ll be breaking this list into 5 posts throughout the day, so keep checking back and have a happy new year!
